Frequently Asked Questions - For Providers

What are the services you provide?

We specialize in packaged medication fulfillment and delivery using the Medicine-On-Time system, a color-coded multi-dose bubble pack. We also provide single dose bubble packs and traditional bottles. Finally, we provide an array of clinical pharmacy services such as vaccine, medication therapy management, and full-service care/ case coordination with the clinical teams for our sites.

What are the costs for the packaging and delivery?

There are no fees. We provide free delivery to each facility once a day and no charge for packaging.

What insurances are accepted at Horizon Pharmacy?

Horizon Pharmacy accepts all major insurances, Medicaid, Medicare part D, Medicare part B and most commercial insurances. In a rare instance that we are not contracted with an insurance company, then we would do our best to contract with them in a timely manner.

Who do I ask for when I call the Pharmacy?

You will be given the names of three team members who will be intricately involved with your team. In addition, at any point, you can always ask for the Pharmacy Manager, Justin, or the VP of Compliance & Strategy, Megan.

My patient uses the multi-dose package and there was a medication change mid-cycle. What do I do?

Reach out to your three contacts to discuss the change. If the provider needs to be contacted, then the Pharmacy will address it. We ask that you hold a 1-day dose, and the pack will be returned to you the next day. We will let you know when our driver will be by to pick up the patient’s pack.

Can I change the packaging type for my patient?

Yes, we can change the type of packaging at any time. For example, changing from single dose to multidose packaging or from weekly to monthly packaging. Unless there is an emergency, whenever the change is requested, the packaging change will take place at the start of the patient’s next cycle.

If a prescription is not covered for one of my patients, what is the process?

If a prescription requires authorization for a medication, then the pharmacy will reach out to the providers. We utilize a prior authorization system called Cover My Meds. We will contact your facility once the prior authorization has been initiated. If a prescription is not covered or a high cost, our pharmacy will contact your facility’s and will be provided the out-of-pocket cost. The facility and patient can then decide to authorize the fill or ask that the provider be contacted for a different option, if available.

How are patients invoiced?

Invoices are printed monthly on the 1st of every Month. It lists all the copays from the previous month. If there are no charges an invoice is not printed. This invoice is delivered to your facility and directly to the patient or their representative.
