How New Automation Technology Is Elevating Community Partnerships and Supporting Growth
At Horizon Pharmacy, our commitment to excellence and innovation has reached an exciting new milestone. We are thrilled to announce the successful construction and delivery of our state-of-the-art pouch packaging automation system, the TruPack system, supplied by JFCrx and generously funded by the Rhode Island Foundation Impact Investing Program. This transformative addition is more than just a new piece of equipment—it’s a symbol of our dedication to improving medication management for facilities and individuals across multiple states.
Building the Future: The Construction Journey
The introduction of the TruPak system was no small feat. To integrate this advanced technology into our workflow, Horizon Pharmacy embarked on a comprehensive upgrade to our facility. Our vestibule/ lobby and main pharmacy floor underwent a complete rebuild to accommodate the new automation equipment, creating a welcoming and efficient environment for both team members and visitors. We also took the opportunity to upgrade our electrical, data, security systems and including fresh paint and flooring, ensuring that our facility can support not only today’s innovation but also future advancements.

Their belief in our mission has empowered us to deepen our pharmacy partnerships within the community, enhance our service capabilities, and accelerate our ambitious growth plans across multiple states. Meet the Machines: Naming Our Newest Team Members
What’s innovation without a little fun? To celebrate the arrival of our new technology suite, we hosted a naming contest for the three core pieces of equipment. The results are in, and we’re proud to introduce:
- D. Spencer — Our TruPak pouch packaging robot
- Checkers — The TruCheck verification system
- Sir Eye Sac Newton — The Vision Station for quality assurance
All three are happy to join our existing resident, Fill-O-Mena; an aptly named SynMed XF bubble pack system.
The creativity and spirit behind these names reflect the vibrant culture at Horizon Pharmacy and the enthusiasm our team brings to every innovation.
Why Pouch Packaging Matters
For both facilities and individuals, pouch packaging is an excellent alternative to traditional bubble packing; providing clear, convenient, and custom-labeled medication packets. This system is designed to improve medication adherence, making it easier for patients to take the right dose at the right time, every time.
We expect these enhancements to further the positive outcomes that Horizon Pharmacy customers already experience, while opening the door to even stronger partnerships and expanded service offerings.
